Retake Policy and Registration

Mora gymnasium accepts students who have attended the IBDP at Mora gymnasium and have been registered with Mora gymnasium as candidates. Retake students can carry over marks from a previous session (e.g IAs). It is also possible to change level and subjects as well as EE subject in an examination being retaken after 6 months. (IB, 2024, C.2.5.3-C.2.5.5)

A retake student who has not yet received a Diploma or has a passing grade (4) is expected to attend classes in the subject retaken. If a student is absent 20 % or more (or less if a pattern can be seen in which individual subjects/days are being missed) Mora gymnasium have the right to withdraw a retake student from the IBDP at Mora gymnasium. Students who have a passing grade (4 or more) may choose if they want to attend classes or work at home. If a retake student wants to resubmit an IA the student MUST attend classes so the teacher can follow the progress.

A candidate taking a subject again may carry over their result for a non-examination component, assuming there have been no significant changes to the curriculum and/or assessment requirements. A mark cannot be carried over from:

  • a written examination (that is, paper 1, 2 or 3)
  • the TOK essay.

If a candidate wishes to resubmit work for IA or for any other non-examination component, the candidate must attend classes at the school where they are registered for the retake session."

(IB 2024, C2.5.3 – C2. 5.4)

By signing up for the retake examinations, the candidate agrees to abide by the rules and regulations of the IB Diploma Programme regarding academic integrity and assessment procedures. Matters related to the programme are governed by the IB General Regulations and amendments to those regulations.
